Prepared Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the Birdville Independent School District in Haltom City, Texas to 1) obtain a contractor to connect more than thirty schools with single mode fiber optics cable and 2) obtain ATM or other broadband technology equipment to establish a Wide Area Network connecting all the schools with OC3/OC12 bandwidth to meet their voice, data and video requirements with full network redundancy. Both projects included conducting a Pre-Proposal conference, evaluating responses and recommending contract awards. The solution recommended and accepted by the school district was for Gigabit Ethernet over SONET.
